This child sexual abuse prevention training focuses on how family-serving professionals can support healthy behaviors by creating safe environments and rules for behavior that apply to everyone consistently. It also offers adults information about actions to take when behaviors go outside of the healthy range and how to increase protective factors to ensure that children stay safe.
Learning about child sexual abuse prevention is only effective if that knowledge is applied. This module allows participants the opportunity to practically apply what they have learned in Modules 1 and 2 through real-world scenarios and group discussions.

When we educate ourselves about developmentally appropriate sexual behavior in children, we can then take an active role in creating a healthy and happy life for a child. This workshop examines what we associate with sexuality, the many ways adults influence how children view their bodies and how parents prepare them for decision making about sexual behaviors in the future. The stages of childhood will be broken down to give participants concrete examples of the normal ranges of behavior. The session will also explore how best to avoid placing adult meanings on child behavior and the various strategies that promote healthy sexual development in children.
In this session, participants will learn to recognize sexual behaviors in children and adults that range from healthy to abusive. The workshop will also cover useful, protective and responsible techniques one can use when responding to these behaviors as a responsible, caring adult.
